Heart Flurries

Regretfully
Two tongues can only catch
So many snowflakes.
Your tongue tastes sweeter
But is just as difficult to attain.
We spin in the flurries
Looking back
The snowmelt reminds us
Of the places we’ve been.
A memory sends a tear down my cheek.
It freezes before you can wipe it away
A stinging reminder
That the only footprints here
Are mine.
